About Turtle Box

Finding fresh, authentic, local ingredients shouldn't be difficult. We are a south-Florida based local and organic produce delivery service, and we are committed to bringing the best farm fresh fruits, veggies and other good stuff right to your door each week. We are similar to a CSA (community support agriculture), except you have more flexibility!  

We support local and regional farms and small businesses. Produce is picked ripe, and we don't store it. We do our best to source locally, but in the hot summer months we work with organic and fair trade growers from out of state to be sure that you always have access to the best foods.  Our goal is to expand the reach of local farmers, promote healthy eating habits, educate the community about food and support the local economy.  

We believe that supporting local and organic farms, especially family farms, is not only good for the economy, but good for the environment. Knowing where your food comes from means that you will be able to support producers that are using sustainable growing practices.

Closing The Gap

Our goal is to connect you, the consumer, with the farms in our region and put a face with the produce and goods that you purchase. Each item that is offered in our store will have the location of the farm, contact information for that farm, and information on each farm including photos. When the item is not grown in our region we will include growing practices and country of origin of every good. 

Supporting Local

We aim to support the family businesses in our region and our local economy. We work directly with growers in our region and all of the goods purchased help to support that farm directly rather than to turn the gears of a national chain. We also offer smaller businesses a platform and the opportunity to market and sell their goods to a wider customer base than can be found at a traditional farmers market.

Transparency 

We will provide much needed transparency to our customers about how their food is produced. When purchasing through Turtle Box you have the ability to choose where you get your food from down to the individual farm and their growing practices. Too often in our food industry this is not the case and even at our local farmers markets goods are purchased and resold to give the illusion that the goods are local and fresh. We believe that "Local" and "Fresh" shouldn't  just be a popular tag line used by the marketing departments of major chains. See what local and fresh really means in the delivery of one of our boxes, you may even receive a little dirt from the farm in there.

Eating Fresh (it tastes better!)

Because we source our goods for the closest possible source based on time of year and what our farmers are able to grow (considering various natural obstacles) our customers will be receiving their goods any where from 10-28 days sooner than when they pick that item up at the grocery store. Most of our goods will arrive at your door step with in 4 days of being harvested for regional items, sometimes less. We keep no stock and items do not sit on shelves until someone purchases them. We purchase exactly what you order from the farms we work with. 

Giving Back

We want to make a difference in our community. We will be starting several projects to work within our communities. Our first goal is to create a scholarship for a local student to attend The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at The University of Florida. We feel that it is not only our responsibility to have a positive impact on the Agricultural Industry but also to help educate the next generation of farmers and Agri-Business professionals.
